3 Posts

I've written three different posts this past week but obviously none of them have been published. Sorry! Surprisingly, though it leaves you with nothing to read, I do feel better just having typed them all out and deleting them.

Things continue to be busy but do seem to be slowing down a bit. Here are just a few quick updates ~

*Management is home for awhile so we are excited about that.
*HomeAudio is still recovering very well.
*WeeklyAd is dancing along.
*I bit the bullet and went for my yearly physical last week. This always makes me so nervous! Something is going on still and we are hoping to get to the bottom of it. Still hoping for a miracle rather than menopause! Can you imagine!?

*I am finally reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It is so so good!
*I made my first Etsy purchase the other day. Can't wait to get it. I have avoided the site for so long but finally caved and now I, again, have to make a conscious effort to stay away. It's a dangerous site.
*We are getting ready for Halloween.

We are going to be at my sister's for Halloween (maybe we'll see you lurker) with about 20 other people and I am really happy that it is on a Saturday this year. I'm in charge of bringing the punch and am also going to attempt a little surprise.

Anyone else watching Shark Tank?

Okay, back to my book....

Updates

I don't think I ever answered Dee's question.

The song that was used for the Friend Video is Gift of a Friend by Demi Lovato. I believe it is from the new Tinkerbell movie?

The answer to Votemom's question:

The prize delivered to Keri and her clever husband was a king size 3 Musketeers and a king size Twix bar. That was fun and I would like to do another BrainTeaser type game soon!

Management:

I briefly saw him this past weekend and he is now out on the road again.

HomeAudio:
He is doing so well after surgery and is now back in school. We were able to complete ALL of his homework and he received a 100% on his bug project! I'm so proud of him!

WeeklyAd:

She is also doing so well. She's been busy rehearsing for Christmas Spectacular as she is in not one, not two, but three dance numbers in the show. She recently lost her 4th tooth (which I would have shown you if I had a camera - sob.sob.) and is growing way too fast!

Targetshopper:

I miss my lazy summer days!! 4th grade and 2nd grade are proving to be challenging along with a lot of other outside responsibilities. It's been a great year so far, just so insanely busy.

Mostly, I just can't wait to meet this little guy!

Baby Boy Biskie

UPDATE:
Welcome RHYS KING BISKIE
9 lbs. 7 oz.

ORIGINAL POST:
I was hoping and praying that my best friend Grace would go into labor last Friday so that I could go and spend the weekend with her and the new little guy. Alas, she did not go into labor...until today.

She is already dilated to 8 and hasn't even felt one contraction. I think it is going to be a quick and speedy delivery. Praying for a safe and healthy delivery too.

Oh how I wish I was there with her!

Tears

I'm in tears!

WeeklyAd is spending the night at my parents and I just spoke to my neighbor (her son is in WeeklyAd's class) and she told me that WeeklyAd has a test tomorrow in Social Studies. I have not seen a study sheet and obviously can't study with her as she is at my parents house and will be taken to school by my mom or dad. I feel like the worst and most unprepared mother! I did e-mail a quick study sheet to my dad and am thankful that he will quiz her in the morning. sigh.

My mother-in-law can't come and stay with me after all. She has the flu and is unable to come. I feel awful for her! I feel a little self-pity for me. Her health is the most important thing though and she needs to stay in bed and recuperate.

HomeAudio is terrific! His surgery was a success and though he took a while to wake up, his oxygen levels only dropped once. We were able to come home as expected this evening and he has already eaten some soup and used the restroom several times! He is a trooper! I realized this morning that this is his 5th surgery in his short 10 years of life. sheesh!

My other neighbor brought over some wonderful treats and I am so thankful for her thoughtfulness and friendship!

Thanks again for your prayers!

Frustrated tears, disappointed tears, nervous tears, happy tears, and grateful tears...they're all flowing tonight.

Heading to bed early!

Night Before

HomeAudio is tucked in as snug as a bug in a rug on a brand new mattress. The kid is totally sucked in and manipulated by marketing and I fear that if we don't end this now, he will be making "easy payments" for the rest of his dear life. His latest obsession is a Tempur-Pedic mattress.

Here's our latest conversation...

"I really need a Tempur-Pedic cuz my neck and back hurt all the time."
"We are working on getting you a new mattress but it will not be Tempur-Pedic."
"But you know mom, the Temput-Pedic allows you to roll over without disturbing your partner."
"you don't have a partner" (wondering if I should address this word partner!?
"well it also allows you to put a glass of wine on your bed and jump without spilling it."
"you don't drink wine either."
"well I like to jump."
"you can jump on any mattress."
"yes, but not without disturbing my partner."
"how'd we get back to the partner?" (I seriously need to address this!)

Seriously, I do have to admit that the poor child has been complaining about his neck and back for years. Hopefully those days are over! He's all tucked in (on a Serta) and seems to be pretty calm and collected about his surgery tomorrow.

Did I mention that Management is heading to Florida on Tuesday!? The trip was planned long before we knew about the surgery and would be very difficult to cancel. We were also planning on heading to Columbus, OH next weekend but did manage to cancel that one. My mom will be helping us tomorrow with WeeklyAd and then my mother-in-law is coming into town Tuesday to stay with me while Management is soaking up the sun working.

I'm so thankful for their help.

I'm also so thankful for your prayers!

Miserable

*Dad, you may not want to read this one*

I have about 5 symptoms of pregnancy. Including skipping this month. Which has only ever happened to me twice before (I have 2 kids). I know other women skip for different reasons but I never have. It's very strange!

I'm pretty sure that I am not pregnant though. It would definitely be a miracle! I took a test just in case the Lord had decided to give a us a miracle but it was a negative so I guess it could be stress!?

A miracle would be so much better than stress!! sigh.

HomeAudio will be having surgery on Monday. It's a "below the belt" surgery and should be outpatient if all goes well. Please pray that he doesn't get a cold between now and then. He has asthma and they will not do the surgery if he has even a hint of congestion. Also, please pray that he handles the anesthesia well and is able to maintain good oxygen levels during the hours after surgery. That was an issue when he had his tonsils out and we are praying that it is not an issue on Monday.

Thanks friends!

Bug Project 2

My baby girl went to her first rock concert last night. My sister and her husband had a suite available for the Miley Cyrus concert and invited WeeklyAd and my other niece to go along with them. Of course HomeAudio was quick to ask "why would you let her go to her concert when she isn't even allowed to watch the show?" Well, I thought about it and came up with 3 reasons ~

1. I think Miley's music (what I've heard anyway) is fun and while I think the t.v. show is too old for WeeklyAd, I think the music is fun.

2. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for WeeklyAd to go with her girl cousins and hang out in a suite and see a fun concert. My sister and her husband are very brave and if they were willing to take the 5 girls then who am I to stop them?

3. HomeAudio, Management, and I had to complete the Bug Project and who would want to sit and watch their family put together a project with bugs when they could be eating cotton candy with their cousins, holding glow sticks, and watching Hannah Montana swing through the air on a motorcycle?

So while she was partying her little heart out, we were emptying our freezer (which has been full of bugs for about 2 months now)...

I'm proud of HomeAudio for doing his best and I'm proud of myself for stepping back and letting him do it. I have a tendency to want to get too involved but I have to remind myself that this is HIS project! I wish other parents did that too though because trust me some of these projects are over the top! I would take pictures to show you what I mean but as I was taking the photos above, I dropped my camera and broke it.

AARRGGHH!
