Winter Break

Hello from Florida...

We've been having a great week. We've had a good balance of fun (Disney) and rest (pool). The weather has been perfect and there really is absolutely nothing to complain about....except that it's too short!

Heard we will be going home to snow. I'm actually kind of excited about it. I love snow and figure if it's going to be cold, then I want it to be pretty. The kids will be excited too because we got a "snowman kit" for Christmas and have yet to be able to use it!

My grandma was laid to rest yesterday. So hard to believe really! Death is so unnatural and it's just so hard to wrap my head around it. She planned her funeral several years ago and was truly ready to go but it's hard to believe that she really is gone. My family had a very small graveside service yesterday and obviously we were unable to attend. About 3 hours before the service, as we were at Hollywood Studios, standing in line with my family to see Disney Jr. Live, I listened to a voice mail from my mom. Thanks a lot mom! Nothing like standing there sobbing with a couple hundred people staring at you wondering why you're crying your eyes out at one of the happiest places on Earth. Anyway, it was a very short but significant message and I appreciated it very much!

Today at the pool I spoke with 2 different families who are from our same home town. Crazy!! One of them I kind of know from dance and the other I had never met. Such a small world to end up at the same place at the same time so many miles from home!

Feb. 11-15

We had a weekend full of birthday celebrations. It was so great to celebrate my great friend, S, at her "semi-surprise" birthday party Saturday night. She knew there was a party but didn't know any other details. It was a great party and I'm hoping a great way for her to welcome 50! Here she is surrounded by the party planners in our self-constructed photo booth.

Sunday afternoon was spent with family celebrating my neice's 9th birthday. While Saturday night we had elegant appetizers such as crackers and fancy dips, bean salad and beautifully cut fruit, cream puffs, raspberry brownies, and a fancy cake...Sunday we had noodles with parmesian cheese, chicken fingers, and a heart shaped cookie. Perfect foods for each of the very different parties.

Valentine's Day dinner was great with my all of my little cupcakes! We had a great dinner and spent time sharing what we love about each other. It was very sweet! Then we exchanged gifts...Disney pins for trading, some clothes, and a very sweet Valentine's Heart made especially for me by WeeklyAd. We finished off the night with a game of Hide-n-Seek! That seems to be the current favorite with the kids.

Today I have pretty much done absolutely nothing! Well, let me clarify, I'm home with a 2 year old and 3 month old so though I've done nothing productive, I've been doing a whole lot (feeding, rocking, disciplining, bathing, more rocking, reading, more feeding, etc.) and a huge amount of looking forward to Saturday!

Lame Blogger - Right Here

The days and weeks seem to blur together as time flies by!

This evening I found myself carrying on 4 different text conversations while trying to help WeeklyAd with her homework and asking the baby to please stop snatching WeeklyAd's pencil away from her. Ugh!

The text messages included a mother who was asking me if she should be worried that her 3 month old isn't eating very much. My dad texting from the ER where he is currently waiting with my grandma who has faded away down to 84 pounds. A happy text from my friend, S, who got a great surprise visit from her niece in Florida. A text from my husband who is out in California. Whew.

The 3 month old baby is S.A.M. and she comes to visit us on Mondays and Wednesdays. She is absolutely adorable and a super content baby except for when she is trying to fall asleep. She coos and smiles at H&G and of course H&G is obsessed with her. I'm thrilled with how well it's going and how well H&G helps me throughout the day!

It's been a very long 5-6 weeks with Management traveling every week. I think we both are feeling the strain a little bit. Next week we are all headed on vacation and some time of rest.

I FINALLY got a new cell phone!!! Oh my word, my last phone was so awful and so frustrating! It wouldn't answer a call on the first try so I had to tell people to make sure and call me twice. It also would make duplicate calls so I would be talking to someone and it would dial someone else. That was IF I could make a call in the first place. The numbers would compute and it would freeze up for a good 2 minutes before recognizing the numbers I was pushing. It was such a nightmare. Really! There were several times that I had to make urgent calls and couldn't. Anyway, I now have a new phone and love it!

I'm seriously going to try to blog more because I really feel like I'm missing out on recording so much of the kid's lives. I know in the future I will regret not having much written so I'm going to challenge myself to do an update more frequently. And include pictures!!!!
