HomeAudio's Ornament

The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so incredibly FUN!! H&G was absolutely perfect and shocked us all! She carried a little bouquet down the aisle and the groom knelt down to greet her. It was precious!

We are officially on Christmas break!!!! Woohoo! Here's to sleeping in, pajama days, no homework, and lots of family time!

It's been really cool listening to HomeAudio instruct H&G on the true meaning of Christmas! He is as emphatic and passionate in making sure she gets it as I was when they were little. While he used to be annoyed by my constant reminders and lessons on why we do what we do (the tree, the candles, the cross, etc.) and he would say "you bring God into everything", now he is the one who is making sure that we explain all of this to H&G so that she isn't more "into Santa and presents than what it's really all about." That's been wonderful to witness!!!

And so great for him to understand as he gets older that YES, God IS in everything! It's not that I bring Him into it, He is the root of it. Management and I are both quite passionate about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit being a very important part of our daily dialogue so that our kids can talk about Him or His wondrous works or lessons without even skipping a beat. He is the air we breathe...that is our goal.

This has been a year of spiritual growth for HomeAudio indeed. In fact, his ornament from me this year simply states "Be still and know that I am God." Each year I get them an ornament that kind of represents that year for them...something new they did or a special memory for that year. This year HomeAudio had to make a choice to commit to something or not and Management and I decided (oh my word it was so hard!!) to let him make his own decision. HomeAudio agreed to pray about it and he did make the decision to be on a student leadership team for his middle school group at church. I didn't show it but inside I was jumping for joy because not only do I think HomeAudio has great gifts for such a team, but I also knew that he would grow tremendously (emotionally, socially, and spiritually) from being a part of it too! And he has! Also, he gave his testimony for the first time in front of the middle school group one Wednesday evening. So listening to the Lord and speaking to others about what the Lord has done in his life this year will be what HomeAudio remembers every Christmas from here on out when he places his 2011 ornament on his tree!

What tremendous joy to hear God's truth being spoken from my oldest child to my youngest child. I do pray that H&G's heart is softened and that the reality of what we celebrate each Christmas season takes root deep down in there! May she claim Christ as her Lord and grow to one day give a testimony of her own regarding God's goodness and holiness!

The Rehearsal Dinner

Tonight is the long awaited wedding of Sarah and Bryce. Sarah was H&G's foster sister but cared for H&G as a mother would care for her baby. She and Bryce absolutely adore H&G and my guess is that they would have adopted her themselves had the Lord not led them differently. She was meant to be ours, that is very clear, but she is very much a part of their heart for life!

We had the rehearsal last night in which H&G repeated over and over again, at the back of the church, "no, I don't want to." She clearly did not want to walk down the aisle. Of course, once she saw Bryce at the other end waving at her, she bolted down the aisle, laughing along the way. It will be interesting tonight!

The good news is that Sarah doesn't care how loud and naughty she acts. In fact, Sarah thinks the naughtier the better...Sarah is not the mother and therefore will not be judged by how naughty her 2 year old is acting in the beautiful Catholic church or get dirty looks because her 2 year old is "ruining the wedding." I'm the mother, but all in all, I've come to not care that much either, I suppose. I felt a bit judged at the rehearsal but H&G is an extreme extrovert, ham, wild-one....and this is my 3rd so I think I've learned to relax. Maybe?

The proud moment of the night I suppose was when the wedding coordinator came up to me and asked me "just how smart is your daughter?" She said that she was explaining to Bryce how they could exit the church but told him that the room they would enter was a bit chilly. H&G then asked, "you mean a draft?" The coordinator was amazed that a 2 year old could associate chilly with draft. And, she aked, "what 2 year old even uses the word 'draft'?"

Ummm, for those of you who know my husband...yes, that's how she knows the word! :)
