Sunshine?

Thank you all so much for sharing some of your stories and ideas!! Some of my comments disappeared from my last post. That's so weird! I have no idea where they went and I know there was 1 that I didn't even get to read yet. boo.

Still no word about the court filing of the final papers. It was supposed to be this week but I haven't heard anything. I'm not quite as anxious since H&G already lives with us but I am excited to post pictures and introduce her to our on-line friends and family.

I can only think of two times in my life where I felt depressed. Well, actually, in college I was diagnosed with depression but that was a cooky doctor that I had only met once and I definitely did not agree with the diagnosis. Anyway, this week, I think I've had a bit of the depression bug. This weather (gray, rain, cold) had gotten me down for sure. I'm so thankful today for the sunshine and am hoping that maybe, for real, spring is finally here. It is the end of May for goodness sake!

Going out to enjoy some sunshine now before it slips away again.

Dreams

I just wrote out our letter for the court. It's hard to put our intentions and emotions on paper. In some ways they fall really flat and seem really "typical" and in other ways I hope they express our anticipation and joy and love for H&G. The court filing should be in the next week or so and finalization should be shortly after that!

I'm super disappointed that in our county the families do not get to go to court. I've spent M.A.N.Y. years dreaming about adoption and imagining that day in court where we would be dressed up, taking pictures, celebrating with family, laughing with the judge, and having a very special "ceremony." I know - it was a bit romanticized but even if most of it had come true it would have been so nice.

In our county, you get a letter. And apparently, if I'm understanding correctly (Keri?), the letter comes several days or weeks after the actual filing of the papers in court. Really!?!? So I'm confused on what date to celebrate. If we celebrate the date the actual orders were signed then we would actually miss the date because the letter would come a few days after that, right? If we celebrate the court date, it doesn't really make sense because she really isn't officially ours yet.

Why couldn't we just live in a county where I can have the dream?

BUT....

I know what you all are thinking. Well, there are probably a few different things you are thinking and I know all of it is true.

I'm so so so happy but just a little disappointed. Ok, a lot disappointed.

Management and I are trying to think of some ways to make it a special occasion and to celebrate more than just watching for the letter. I'm NOT criticizing anyone who does that at all, I think I just had it in my head that it should be celebrated a bit more elaborately. Kind of like weddings...some like them private and intimate and some like a bigger bash. Some go to justice of the peace, some grand cathedrals. It's a very personal decision and the celebrations vary.

Not sure yet how we will be celebrating but we will, indeed, be celebrating!

And that is the biggest dream come true!

UGH

I guess I'm now a once a week blogger??? Not really, just have my husband home and since he actually works in the office, it's hard to find time alone at the computer. I do have a laptop but that is usually on the lap of the big ones or tucked away from the little one. I think I need a creative name for them - S has TheTallOnes and TheShortOnes which cracks me up and I've heard of Bigs and Littles...so funny. Hmmm...I'll have to think of something.

Anyway, my best friend and I are very very very different! This was clear to me again this past weekend. I !HATE! raccoons and would do anything in my power to kill them all...she stopped in the middle of the road for an hour to pray over one. Really!?!? In her defense....I'm sure she will leave a comment with her defense for us. ;)

Anyhoo, got my flowers planted yesterday. I hate planting flowers but am always happy when it's done and do love having a big, bed of flowers in front of the house. The hour of pain is worth months of beauty I guess. I also bought a pot of pansies. I've tried everything and have killed almost everything other than begonias and impatients (I think they are impossible to kill) so buying pansies is a huge leap. We shall see...

Times up. But I will be back soon. Hopefully before next Tuesday!

New Post

I'm going over to my parents tomorrow and I know my mom will say "I keep checking for a new blog post" so I figured I better hurry and get one up here. How about some updates...

Management~he's doing well. Adjusting to homework again and having to write papers, read books, and talk to professors. Of course he handles it all well and I believe is enjoying his class. We have to go to Colorado in July for two weeks as he attends a class on campus. I'm excited! He also is home for a while now (3 weeks I think) so we are adjusting.

HomeAudio~baseball began on Sunday. I think he's anxious to get playing again. He's still doing really well in school but is adjusting to more independent learning and studying, and taking on more responsibility. A funny story about him - he asked me how many years it took to get through college. I replied, "it depends. A bachelor's degree takes 4-5 years but if you get your masters then you need to go an additional 2-3 years." He responded, "then I'm just going to be a bachelor so I don't have to go that long!"

WeeklyAd~again, she's doing well. She's opening up a lot more since the last time I posted about her. I took her to the school play (Little Women) and she loved it. She's always loved theater and I try to take the kids as much as I can but I think she more than HomeAudio really appreciates it. She is still dancing and looking forward to her recital mid-June. She's doing really well in school too and just adores her teachers!

H&G~growing, growing, growing! She looks taller to me though she is still a little peanut. She turned 18 months and weighs 22 pounds. She's still super clingy at home but her beloved brother (BoBo) gave me a coupon book for times he will spend with her so I'm using those and trying to get a good schedule that works for her and me. She's picking up new words every day and it just amazes me. Some of her new words are butterfly, stuck, stop, where are you, and school bus.

Me~I *think* things are going to be slowing down a bit soon. I can't believe I only have 2 more months and I will be off of the Regent Board (school board). In some ways, I'm so happy and in others, I will really miss it. It's actually been really good for me and I really have enjoyed it though it has completely worn me out!!! We had our last Bible study this morning and I will really really miss that over the summer! I'm always sad when it is over! One of these days I would love to do a post about our study and all that I learned from it. It was fantastic! Thanks Leanne!! We are in the middle of teacher appreciation week so I've gathered all the donations and am putting together the gifts to be given to the teacher's each day. It's been fun to break out my scrapbooking paper and scissors and be creative again.

I guess that's about it for now. Not much is really new. In my opinion that is a good thing!
