Bachelor Babble 7

Hello friends! It's been a few days...well, my intention was to let you all know last Thursday that I was going on a week long blogging break. That was my intention anyway.

But I can't get past a Monday without our little Bachelor Babble.

But I am totally in vacation mode and I really don't like The Girls/Guys Tell All Episodes.

But I did watch and have a few things to say.

But I know Boo Mama will say anything that I would want to say and then some. She truly has the best Bachelor Recaps!

But next week I will be out of vacation mode and back to packing lunches/ironing clothes/doing homework mode and will definitely have some Bachelor Babble!

But until then, we are enjoying our nice break, spending great time together, and trying to avoid the computer.

But I'll leave you with this question -
Was Chris serious about Jillian being the next Bachelorette? Will it be Stephanie? Molly? Melissa? Hmmmm....

Tidbits

Today was f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g cold! I'm so done with winter! My friend and I (who are in charge of MOPS set up and decorations) spent the morning today decorating the MOPS room in a nice tropical theme. Bright colors, pineapples, grass skirts, coconuts...we all need a nice, bright, cheery break from winter.

In a high sing-songy voice - "they're back" - LOST. Can't say much more because some of my blogging buddies are just now watching previous seasons. I have to say though that this season is not disappointing!

I spent about 2 hours watching home videos today. I had the best babies! They were so happy and so calm and watching the videos made me very happy and somewhat sad. I miss those days! Btw, HomeAudio has the exact same laugh now at age 9 that he had at age 2. It's so cute!

I use way too many exclamation points when I write. I can't help it!!!

My neighbor came over this evening to take my blood pressure for a science experiment at her school. She took it 2 times while resting and 2 times after exercising. At one point it was 88/37. yikes! I called my brother-in-law who's a paramedic...and then my other brother-in-law who's an ER doctor. They both said I was fine but sheesh, doesn't that seem way too low!?

WeeklyAd asked, "why do you think God created people last?" I replied, "hhmmm, why do you think He did?" She said, "because if He created us first then we would be in darkness and there wouldn't be anything there." I honestly am embarrassed to admit that I had never once thought about that. I was reminded again that God prepares for us, He gifts us with beauty and provisions, and is still preparing for us. He loves us so much.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I Admit It...

Bible Study this morning was excellent! The video was a masterpiece and boy did I need it! I just love Beth Moore! It was about FEAR and it was oh so good.

And so timely!

I have a HUGE fear of medications. I mean really, after being rushed to the hospital with an ear the size of my husband's hand, sent home, and then later hospitalized with hives so bad the ER initially thought I was a burn victim, I think I've earned the right to be a little crazy cautious when it comes to medications.

But a HUGE, horrendous, enormous, dreadful fear is a little overboard, I admit it. I just can't help it!

I'm certainly not afraid of going to the doctors, it's just the remedies that they prescribe leave me asking an insane amount of questions that usually begin with the one, "can I ask you a stupid question?"

Of course they answer, "no question is stupid" and as I begin my barrage of questioning, they quickly get a twinkle in their eye, twitching lips, and show tremendous discipline as they try not to laugh at probably the stupidest questions they have ever heard. It happens every time!

But I am serious. If it's anything other than Tylenol that they want to give me then they have some explaining to do. And unfortunately, I hardly ever trust their diagnosis either.

I have trust issues with doctos.

So all that to say that this afternoon when I finally went in to see a Foot and Ankle Specialist (after 3 weeks of pain and putting it off), I had some serious Beth Moore quotes running through my head. Her video on fear this morning was fresh on my mind and I was thankful.

Not only did the Specialist tell me that my doctor (who said it was a sprained ankle) is "ridiculous" (thank you sir for adding to my horrible trust issues and at the same time making me so thankful that I never filled the prescription my "ridiculous" doctor called in for me), he also told me he would have to give me an injection into my ankle.

Did you hear that record scratch!?!?

"excuse me, you have to inject medicine? Is it Tylenol? Can I ask you a stupid question...."

30 minutes later....just kidding. I had 3 kids with me, Beth Moore quotes in my head, and possibly the BEST doctor I have ever met in my life patiently answering each and every question for me.

10 minutes later I was leaving his office with a numb foot, ace bandage, and 3 happy kids with suckers.

If my ankle isn't better by Thursday then I may need a cast. Queu stupid question
#1 - has anyone ever had an allergic reaction to a cast?

Bachelor Babble 6

I GOT IT!!

I'm so so so excited because I think I have it figured out!!

This is my GUESS...jumping to the end.

The Final Rose ~ it's so dramatic. it's so intimate. it's so private.

Jason is going to meet Melissa's parents! Ta-Da. ooo, wouldn't that be so good!? So dramatic!?

That's my BIG guess.

What do you think?

Okay, back to the show ~ Whew, thank goodness for TiVo cuz that hot tub scene with Jillian was way too much for me! Another thing that was way too much for me, the way she talks. I feel like I can't catch my breath for some reason. It's the way she speaks and stops and speaks and doesn't breathe. Also, I'm wondering what Big Mama is going to say about Jillian's boots with her bikini??? Love it or Hate it? That is the question!

Molly ~ I like her more and more. Her questions were cute. She looked really pretty. I love her honesty. I yelled "purse purse" when they left the table. Anyone else yell at their TV tonight? It looked to me like she was forgetting her purse under the table. Good thing they have producers for little things like that.

Melissa
~ I mean really, can't you just see it all in Jason's body language. After he greeted her and rubbed her face and head for 5 minutes, I rewound the show to the beginning and saw nothing like that with Jillian or Molly. He loves to touch Melissa and is always like 2 inches from her face. Could he be any more into her?

Rose Ceremony
~ Jillian's dress was super cute! I was surprised that he chose her to leave but I'm kind of glad. I can't help it, I've been a Melissa fan since DAY ONE! I did feel so bad for her though and for him as well. With that reaction over Jillian, it's easy to see how choosing between Molly and Melissa will nearly send him over the balcony! Sheesh.

So, how will it end?? I think if I were Jason, I would say to myself, "the woman that I send home is most likely going to be the next Bachelorette. What would upset me more, having 25 guys going for Molly or 25 guys going for Melissa?" Ta-Da. That's how you choose who you love. Not really but it might help.

Ending tonight with a possible SPOILER ALERT: (at least I'm hoping it is a TRUE spoiler alert)

Bottom Line:

~This is the best Bachelor EVER!

Top Pick of the Week:
~STILL MELISSA

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. When you're finished reading all of the things that I DID NOT DO, you can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not drive through a humongous pot-hole, blow a tire, and then drive over a mile on the flat tire in order to avoid being stuck on the side of the road in the pouring rain alone with six kids. First of all, I have dodged those darn pot-holes for months and know my way around them quite well, and secondly, I know that pulling over immediately with a flat tire is always best, even if you are in a hurry to get those 6 kids into their AWANA classes so that you can drink your steaming hot coconut latte in peace.

I did not pull out the SuperNanny Bedtime Technique on LittleMiss and spend almost an hour trying to get her to take a nap in a bed. Actually, I did, and guess what, the next day only took 15 minutes and the next day only took 5 minutes and she has been taking great naps ever since! I did not think to myself, "why in the world did I not do this a month ago!?" Not Me!

I did not have a terrific conversation with my friend this morning and find out that she is pregnant!! WOOHOO! I did not spill the beans...no really I didn't! I promised I would keep her secret...so I didn't just blog about it!

I did not almost cry at the thoughtfulness of my wonderful neighbor who brought back souvenirs from Japan for our family. I did not immediately dive into the Japanese chocolates and eat the entire box in less than hour. I absolutely did not consider that my breakfast.

I did not take not one but two delicious cookies and two delicious breadsticks into the dressing room with me at Target while trying on bathing suits. I'm trying to fit into a suit, and though it would be considered multi-tasking to eat lunch and try on suits at the same time, I wouldn't dare think of doing that.

Wow, chocolates for breakfast and cookies/breadsticks for lunch!?! No Way would I ever eat that way, especially after devouring my new book Eat This, Not That!

L~O~V~E

It's the season of LOVE and boy do I LOVE my husband!

I LOVE that he thinks ahead and knowing he will be out of town on Saturday, he presented me with a very thoughtful gift yesterday.

I LOVE that he LOVES me despite the fact that I do not plan ahead and in response to his wonderfully thoughtful gift, I had to break the news that his gift would be here in 3-7 business days.

I LOVE that he plans so far ahead that my gift was a new bag for the pool (have I ever mentioned that during the summer we live at the pool and therefore live out of a pool bag!?) and a new bathing suit.

I LOVE that he thinks I wear a small.

I don't!

I LOVE that he thinks that I could wear a bikini bottom.

I can't!

I LOVE that he told me I looked great as I tried to stuff myself into the SMALL BIKINI BOTTOMS.

It wasn't pretty!

Today LittleMiss and I headed to Target (I LOVE that he LOVES Target almost as much as I do) to return the itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikini and try on some other suits.

Let's just say that I LOVE that I have a couple of months before pool weather hits! And I LOVE the oatmeal, peanut butter, m & m, everything cookie that I ate while trying on bathing suits.

I LOVE that I can laugh at myself as I stuff the glorious-to-die-for cookie into my mouth and stand there in my bra and underwear looking into the mirror and realizing that I will never again EVER be able to stuff myself into a size SMALL bikini.

I just LOVE those cookies way too much!

Friends

I was very surprised and honored to be nominated last week for The Lemonade Award! TheLemonadeAward is "for people that have a positive attitude, show gratitude, and are upbeat about situations and when given lemons, make lemonade."

My friend S was given the award herself (and very much deserved it) and then passed on the nomination to me. These are her very kind words...

"targetshopper is a young, and BEAUTIFUL friend of mine.... very stylish and chic, but super down-to-earth. she had a very, very big disappointment in her life in 2008. she did a lot of processing on her blog and in person, but i never once heard her complain that she was being treated unfairly. she kept looking into the eyes of her Lord, and continued to give thanks throughout the discouragement. she's a great example to me."

Thank you S!

I also was very surprised and excited to get a Valentine's Card in the mail today from my wonderful friend Dee! It is a beautiful card and the kids LOVE that it plays music! Thank you Dee! You definitely brightened up an otherwise gloomy day!

Truly, I am blessed with terrific friends!

So Many Moms

Teachable Mom:
HomeAudio LOVES to teach me about science. His latest lesson for me has been Solar Storms. Very interesting!!

Growing Mom:
I'm absolutely loving our Bible Study in Esther! It has been a fantastic study and of course when you love the study then the homework is much easier to finish. I'm learning a lot!

Healthy Mom:
For the first time in almost 10 days I woke up this morning feeling pretty good! One way that you can tell if I'm truly sick or not is if I sit through commercials. I have a huge compulsion to get up and move during commercial breaks. I used to think it was just nervous energy, then I blamed the whole "clean your house during the commercials" movement, now I'm ready to admit that it is a true compulsion. Well in the last 10 days, not only have I sat through thousands and thousands of commercials, I've slept through thousands and thousands as well. I can't tell you how much I have been sleeping. It's just not like me!

Tough "Mom":
Although I'm not her mom, I've had to set some rules for LittleMiss when it comes to naptime. She is only 2 and still very much needs a nap but for the last 2 weeks or so she has been fighting it. Yesterday we had a nice breakthrough and she actually slept in a bed for 2 hours. What a delight she was when she woke up so well rested!

Caring "Mom":
Well I'm not my grandma's mom either but I continue to care for her as she remains homebound. I'm beginning to think that she will never improve. She continues to struggle with dizziness and has fallen a few more times in the past month or so. Some days she seems to be getting better but other days are horrible. I wish I could help her but I've concluded that I can only do so much. Getting old is AWFUL!

Creative Mom:
Now that I'm feeling better, I have a strong desire to paint some rooms in my house. I want to paint our master bathroom and the laundry room and then I really want to re-paint HomeAudio's room. Management will be out of town this weekend and I'm thinking that maybe I can get the bathroom done before he gets home. That would be a nice Valentine's gift for him!

Prayerful Mom:
2 Chronicles 1:10 "Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead [my children], for who is able to govern [these little ones] of yours?"

Bachelor Babble 5

Hello Bachelor Fans! I am so anxious to see who Jason picks while at the same time wanting this season to drag on a little. It's nice to have a t.v. show to look forward too after a long, dreaded Monday! Of course there's always Jon & Kate plus 8 which actually had me cracking up last night! Hilarious!!

Back to the Bachelor...I just read a blog where the writer thinks that Deanna is there for some other reason than to win Jason back. After last night's preview, I think I agree. She says she made a mistake and he hasn't proposed yet...dum dum dum....I think she's just there to offer him advice. But why on Earth would she fly to New Zealand just to offer advice? I don't know but the preview seemed like a big set up. We'll see!

I'm actually really scared for Melissa. I really really really really want him to pick her and now he has a reason not too. Well, of course not loving her would be a reason too but he seems to be totally into her. I was sad that her parents weren't on the show but REALLY sad when she said they didn't come to games and things. I think parental involvement in kid's activities is HUGE and I was so sad for her! As a parent, how can you not even know your child's friends!?!?

Jillian's and Molly's families were fine. I'm glad that Jillian addressed the accent. That was funny! I wish they would have explained the hat thing with Molly's family. Why so many hats?

Naomi's family - w.e.i.r.d! I'm glad she is gone. And for the record, just my opinion - she may have been raised as a Christian but her comments about their hearts working out the religious differences thing led me to believe she is not a true Christ-follower. There is a lot more to it than just having different religions!! That part of the show made me want to reach through the screen and shake her! Why didn't her dad grab her and shake her!?!

Bottom Line:
~Jillian's hometown was beautiful
~Melissa's friends seem very nice and protective of her
~Molly does have really pretty eyes

Top Pick for the Week:

Why Melissa of course!

Bachelor Babble 4 (cont.)

All I really have to say about last week's Bachelor is that I am very impressed with the girls that are left. They are so nice and classy and honest and I just think their respect for each other is out of this world.

They are honest when they are jealous, they are honest about wanting Jason for themselves, they are honest about being hurt, but they are also honest about how wonderful the other girls are too. I think this is the first time in Bachelor history that the girls are actually NICE and supportive and honestly, though I want Melissa to win, I really like Jillian and Molly too. I loved the way they encouraged each other and related to one another. It's refreshing!

And Stephanie was awesome. What a nice way to end with her head held high! I hope she finds a great man!

Bottom Line:
GREAT group of girls in my opinion!

I'm Alive

Sometime after noon on Wednesday, I woke up and slowly climbed out of bed. That was the very slow beginning to my 2 day recovery from 5 days in bed. I only remember being that sick one other time in my life and that was almost 12 years ago. Today I feel about 90% better and have high hopes that by Monday I will be my old self again. whew! And for those of you who know me, you will be shocked to know that today was the first day in almost a week that I had a cup of coffee. gasp!

I do have to share one story - I was beside myself with misery on Monday and Management had to leave the house for a very quick appointment. The kids were home from school and I called downstairs for HomeAudio to make himself and his sister a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. I assumed he did. Later that night as Management was playing Hide and Seek with WeeklyAd, he found the jar of peanut butter in our dining room behind the grandfather clock and the bread in another corner behind a plant. Seems WeeklyAd didn't want her brother to make her a sandwich after all and to be sure he couldn't, she hid the ingredients. Unfortunately, I have no idea what they had for lunch that day but they survived.

Management was AWESOME! He took great care of us and watched LittleMiss for me on Monday too. He managed to care for all of us while also cooking and cleaning and getting WeeklyAd to school and back and still keep up with his regular work schedule. I am SO thankful that he was home this week and did not catch the nasty bug! I think it helped that I was collapsed in the guest room (with the tv) and he was able to sleep alone in a clean, uncontaminated bed.

I have to admit that I did watch Oprah one day. I know, I know, I'm not an Oprah fan at all but it was on Kid's Nutrition and I was trapped in a bed (with WeeklyAd at the time) and other than cartoons, it was the most kid-friendly show for us to watch. Anyway, David Zinczenko, author of Eat This Not That (For Kids!) was on the show and I immediately was intrigued. So intrigued in fact that I drug myself to the computer and ordered the book right away. It came today and I already love it! I have been so frustrated with grocery shopping and snack options and trying to get the kids to eat properly that I was just about to give up altogether but I'm on page 15 and already have a renewed sense of hope!

And guess what the book says about popcorn eaters. Wait, maybe I should first confess that we are HUGE popcorn eaters. We eat 1-2 bags of popcorn almost every day between the 4 of us. Okay, the book says, "A study of popcorn consumers published in the Journal of the American Dietric Association found that popcorn eaters had a 22 percent higher intake of fiber and 250 percent higher intake of whole grains than noneaters." Hooray for popcorn, eh!? I'm sure you will be hearing a lot more about this book. I'm excited about it!

Well, I have a lot of reading my new book laundry to do but it is nice to be back in BLOG WORLD. Thanks for all of your prayers and comments! I appreciate them so much!

Bachelor Babble 4

I am seriously sick. Not about the show but in real life. Not to exaggerate but it feels deathly! I've been in bed since Saturday morning and it's not pretty.

BUT, I was able to catch most of The Bachelor, in between being half comatose that is. Though I don't have any energy to keep notes or type out my thoughts tonight, I want to hear yours so leave your comments and I'll post as soon as I can.
